"I've lost count of how many adult piano students have come to me with stories of how their Russian piano teachers traumatized them when they were young. Hey, that's just not my style.

When I work with a student, we start playing right away, improvising songs with the games and patterns I teach them. It's a great way to break the mental barrier that sometimes holds students back from playing, creating, and having fun.

The inspiration for Roy's Piano Tunes came to me from my many years as a piano teacher and from my memories of when I was young and learning how to play. I wanted to create songs that were exciting to play, sounded sophisticated, but yet were composed of patterns and movements anyone could play.
